In accordance with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood Regulations for Residential Camps (2.406.A) which went into effect February of 2025, written policies and procedures must be made available to parents/guardians of all attending campers. Parents/Guardians must state that they have received, agree to follow, accept the conditions of, and give authorization and approval for the activities described in the policies and procedures. Below is a list of the policies and procedures required for parents to review. Authorization will be included in the Policy and Procedure Declaration Form which is required to complete the registration process for each camper. You may find this mandatory form in your household registration portal.

- The procedure, including notification of parent(s)/guardian(s), for handling camper’s illnesses, accidents, and injuries;
- The procedure for storing and administering camper’s medications and delegation of medication administration in compliance with section 12-255-131, C.R.S., of the “Nurse and Nurse Aide Practice Act”; See the nurse’s guidebook. the only time that medication administration is delegated in our programs is on our hikes. A certified Medication Management staff works in conjunction with our camp nurse via radio for the adminsitering of any first aid or OTC medications from our hike med kit.
- The policy on the storage and access of inhalers and epinephrine auto-injectors in compliance with sections 22-1-119.5 and 22-2-135, C.R.S. Campers, along with their doctor, must had filled out and signed a self carry agreement to carry either their inhaler or their epi pen. These documents are available through the online registration system when signing up for camp. Otherwise, inhalers and epi pens are stored with the camp nurse and are available as needed.

- The camp’s procedure on positive guidance and strategies and techniques for supporting campers with challenging behaviors; Laserbeaming
- How decisions are made and what steps are taken prior to the request for parents or guardians to remove a camper from care due to concerns about the camper’s behavioral issues; Rainbow Trail operates with a grace oriented discipline policy that offers multiple opportunities to prove they can behave properly within the group. however, when the health and safety of another child is affected, and the camper has been given multiple chances to redeem themselves, the parent will be called and asked to come and get their child. this only happens in extremely rare cases. - The procedure for transporting campers, if applicable, including: camper’s safety related to riding in a vehicle; seating; supervision; emergency procedures on the road; transportation arrangements; and parental permission for excursions and related activities; Vehicle Manual
- The procedure for releasing campers from the children’s resident camp only to persons for whom the resident camp has written authorization, and the procedure for picking up the campers during an emergency; At registration, the parent will sign their camper in to camp on the green card. On that same card, they will list all persons who are authorized to pick up the camper at the end of the week. The camper will only be released to one of the people listed on the green card unless an email has been received by the Executive Director that states any additional authorized names. These same procedures will be used in emergency situations.
- The procedure concerning the storage of camper’s personal belongings and money; Each camper has a storage trundle under their bed to store their personal belongings. Any money that a camper brings can be turned into the camp store and any remaining funds at the end of the week will be returned to the camper.

- The policy and procedure regarding visitors to the resident camp; Any visitors at camp are required to sign in at the office and present credentials to be checked, and to verify their purpose for their visit. Our staff is trained to be aware of visitors, approach them and then escort them to the camp office. Sexual Misconduct Policy
- Television, movies, videos, music, personal electronic devices, and internet usage policy outlining screen time and media use. The media plan must have information on ongoing communication with campers about online safe practices for campers. - The policy regarding sleeping arrangements for campers that complies with rule section 2.425 of this rule. Campers are assigned housing based on the gender that they enter on their registration. if there are special circumstances, please contact the Canon City Office and we will work to meet the needs of your camper.
- Currently, Rainbow Trail does not have solo or survival expereinces as part of its program.
