This free retreat
is for all full-time, paid and volunteer youth workers. Time away
at Rainbow Trail offers you the opportunity to relax, rejuvenate,
as well as to be rewarded-just what you need to prepare yourself
for a new year. Your time will be spent in a peaceful mountain
setting amidst nature. You will have opportunities to network with
other youth workers, so be prepared to share what is working in
your ministry and learn from others. These days will be a time
to relax, play, receive a free professional massage and enjoy fellowship
in God's creation. This retreat will begin with dinner on Monday
and end with lunch on Wednesday. Feel free to come early and stay
late.
***THEME & GUEST SPEAKER***
Our theme for the 2008 Youth Worker's Retreat is
"Sabbath For Youth Workers: Rediscovering
God's Spiritual Oasis In A World Traveling At Warp Speed"
What has happened to us? We live in a world addicted to speed,
achievement, acquisition and busyness. People are frazzled, stressed,
burned out and exhausted. We have forgotten God’s example,
God’s commandment and God’s invitation to re-creation
in observing the Sabbath. How will the youth see Jesus?
What would Sabbath look like in 2008? How can we recapture the
natural, healing, restoring rhythms of a life well lived? Can
we reclaim Sabbath for ourselves, our congregations, and the
youth for whom we model a life in Christ?
We will experience Sabbath in many forms, plan to make it a sustainable
spiritual practice both in home and congregation, and enjoy the
restorative benefits of Sabbath as spirituality and wellness.
Come, let God refill your cup, so that you can offer this living
water to the kids you serve.

Our speaker will be Marilyn Sharpe from the Youth & Family Institute.
Formerly a high
school English teacher and a confirmation teacher and director
for 23 years, Marilyn has a passion for kids and their families.
She believes that families are the classroom for teaching all
that is most important, the crucible for refining the best in
each of us, and a safe harbor from life’s storms. She presents
with energy, passion and contagious enthusiasm. With a BA from
Wellesley College and a MAT from Harvard University, Marilyn
takes extraordinary joy in both learning and teaching.
Marilyn is the Director of Christian Parenting and Intergenerational
Ministries at The Youth & Family Institute, adjunct faculty
at Luther Seminary and Concordia University, St. Paul and a guest
speaker at Augsburg College.
