***SPRING 2008 RETREAT***
APRIL 10-13, 2008

INSPIRATION + BOLD FAITH + LEADERSHIP + WITNESS + DISCOVERY
Are you a WILD WOMAN of faith? God intends
you to be! Come to be inspired and empowered to step out in bold
new faith adventures. We’ll study Wild Women of the bible and aspire to be like
them! Deborah from the Old Testament and the sisters Mary and
Martha in the New Testament will offer fresh models for leadership
and witness. If you think you know these women, you just might
be surprised! And then there’s Huldah - ever heard of her?
Discover your own “leadership style” and listen for
the ways that God is asking you to be no one but yourself. Story
devotions and guided meditation will enliven our understanding
and deepen our connection to the Holy One who calls and empowers
us through faith. Creative worship will begin and end each day.
Adult women of all ages will gain insight and excitement for
the daily journey of faith. Bring your grown up daughters, your
sisters, your mothers, your friends who feel like family – and
discover a whole new set of relatives you’ve not yet met – including
Biblical sisters itching to share their wisdom. This will be
a weekend you won’t soon forget!
WORSHIP & BIBLE STUDY LEADER
Pastory Mary Canniff-Kuhn

Mary Canniff-Kuhn is an ELCA pastor living in the blue ridge mountains of North
Carolina near Asheville. She and her husband have been the program directors
of Lutheridge Camp and Conference Center for 14 years. They have three boys of
their own and adopt about 100 college age staff each summer into the Lutheridge
family. Pastor Mary is a painter, a potter and a storyteller. She’s been
telling gospel stories for more than 30 years and has led workshops across the
country encouraging creativity and storytelling. Twelve years ago, she began “Wild
Women’s Weekends” at Lutheridge – a retreat to study the Wild
Women of the Bible and aspire to be like them. These retreats now serve more
than 500 women a year and are still growing. She is excited to visit the BIG
mountains that we might empower and encourage one another.
A SCHEDULE OF THE WEEKEND
Arrive at Rainbow Trail Thursday evening, April 10, and begin getting to know
the women around you. Friday and Saturday morning will begin with nutritious
and delicious breakfasts, and then will move into a morning of study. The afternoon
schedule for both Friday and Saturday will be open with time to schedule a craft
session, hike or snowshoe, receive a massage from our retreat massage therapist
or fill the time with a nap, a good book, or just some quality personal time.
Each evening we will spend time in worship that will be reflective and meaningful.
To end the evening there will be a group activity that will stimulate laughter,
conversation, and friendships. Bring a friend and enjoy this weekend of renewal,
fun and relationship building.
