WHAT IS IT?
Rainbow Trail South is a brand new camp experience that is part of the ministries of Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp. Rainbow Trail is located in the southern part of Colorado. They know that even though it is a long way to their camp from southern New Mexico, they think you need to be able to get to camp every summer. So they are bringing camp to you! Rainbow Trail is hosting a week of camp for junior high and senior high youth of southern New Mexico at Aspendale Mountain Retreat Center in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. (aspendale.org) Rainbow Trail South will be July 16-21, 2017.
The program will be identical to the program that is run at Rainbow Trail. Every day your village will have a chance to plan your own day and the activities that you do. There will be activities like archery, ropes course, campfires, gaga ball, volleyball, arts and crafts, zipline, and hiking. We’ll have worship and Bible Study every day. Each day of the week, a camper group will be Village of the Day and, in addition to planning their own day, they will lead the two worships as well as an all camp activity with the help of terrific counselors. So, this really becomes your camp and you get to really help shape and create your week.
HOW WILL RTLC DO THIS?
Rainbow Trail is known for its amazing counselors. Their fun and exciting staff will love you, care for you, and accept you as you are. You will experience the joy of being with old and new friends in a loving, supportive and caring Christian community! You’ll share the excitement of trying new things! You’ll live the wonder of being immersed in God’s creation! Rainbow Trail offers people the chance to be leaders, to grow in faith, and to experience wonderful adventures in incredible surroundings. Come to camp this summer and feel the power of the Holy Spirit as you grow in faith in Jesus Christ!
WHAT’S THE BIBLE STUDY FOR 2017?
The strength of Rainbow Trail’s ministry is that Christ is the center of all they do. The Bible Studies for 2017 are based on the theme “Breakin’ All The Rules – Following Jesus’ Lead.” In Jesus’ time, people understood their relationship with God in the form of rules. But Jesus stepped into their world and didn’t follow the rules. As we look at Jesus’ life, we see him hanging out with tax collectors, children, women, and “sinners.” He tells us there’s a better way. A way where love is the “rule” of the day…love of God and love of others. This is His call for our lives: Look at each person as your neighbor. Walk humbly. Seek justice. Choose mercy. Serve rather than be served. We are called to “break the rules” for the sake of love. It’s that easy. It’s that hard. Our challenge is to see that “breakin’ the rules” for love’s sake is an adventure in following Jesus…a call to make the world different, to welcome those on the margins, and to change the rules!
