April 24-26, 2017

A retreat for anyone working professionally in ministry with youth, young adults, children, and families.  Designed as a time of personal renewal, professional development, continuing education, and networking with other Youth Directors, Pastors, and Christian Educators .

Time is spent in a peaceful mountain setting surrounded by God’s creation and wonderful people.  Days are filled with time to relax, play, worship and be engaged in conversation and learning. This retreat will begin with lunch on Monday and ends with brunch on Wednesday. Early arrival options are also available.

The Guest Speaker

Rich Melheim

An entrepreneur, author, semiotician, cartoonist, comedian, speaker, publisher, playwright, songwriter, family counselor, business systems consultant, amateur complexity theorist, log cabin builder, preschool designer, and student of the human brain, Melheim has written and produced 6 musical comedy stage plays, authored two dozen books, produced 24 music albums, created an international preschool education project with 535 songs, taught in 1000 cities on five continents, and has appeared on 50 network television news shows from WNBC-NY to KTLA to CNN consulting on family issues.

An ordained Lutheran pastor with a BA in Journalism (UND – 1977), an MDiv in Theology (Luther Seminary – Spring 1981) and a DMIN in Semiotics and the Future (George Fox Evangelical Seminary – Spring 2013), Rich has invested his ministry in creating education systems that pull parents into the core of children, youth and family systems “every night in every home.”

Melheim’s speaking style is described as 1/3rd stand-up comedy, 1/6th brain science, 2/9ths systems theory, 1/4 pithy, practical, applicable and directly to the point, 1/12th shouting, 3/16 chaos theory applied to intellectually challenging your audience, and whatever is left over is dedicated to making you laugh, cry and think.

EARLY ARRIVAL PERSONAL RETREAT

If you are traveling a long distance, or would simply like a little more time on the mountain, join us starting at 4pm on Sunday evening.  There are no organized activities, just lots of room for your own retreat.  Self-led options include hiking, porch-sitting, prayer labyrinth, reading, enjoying the warmth of the fireplace, and a prayer stations worship.  A light soup and salad supper, breakfast buffet, and lodging are provided for $25.

 

RETREAT FEES

The Summit — $125* (program fee includes two nights lodging, meals, and all activities at camp)

Early Arrival Personal Retreat — $25**

A $75 deposit is required to register, and is non-refundable. The balance of the Retreat Fee will be charged at the time of the retreat.

*Rocky Mountain Synod ELCA Youth Directors and Pastors, this event is FREE for you.  However the $75 fee is required to reserve a spot at the event.  It will be refunded when you arrive at the retreat.  The deposit is non-refundable if you are a no-show.

**The $75 retreat deposit will also act as your deposit for Early Arrival options.  Payment will be due upon arrival.

 

TRANSPORTATION

Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp in located approximately two hours from the Colorado Springs Airport and three hours from the Denver International Airport.  RTLC is not able to offer airport transportation.  However, there are many local participants coming from those areas who may be willing to carpool.  A Facebook Event has been created for the Summit to help facilitate communication between people coming to the retreat.
