OUTDOOR CAMPING MINISTRY

***JOB DESCRIPTION***

The purposes of this position are to provide an opportunity for each applicant to experience all aspects of year round outdoor ministry and to be a part of the partnership between outdoor ministry & the synods, congregations, and organizations of the ELCA.

Rainbow Trail’s goals are to support and facilitate an applicant in their decision to make outdoor ministry their career and to enhance an applicant’s ministry in the greater church.

RETREAT HOSTING
Duties include final preparations prior to a group's arrival, greeting & hosting each group throughout their stay (KP, help with worship & campfires as requested), clean up and close-down site after a group leaves (trash run, clean buildings, etc).
PROMOTION
Assist in writing newsletters and developing brochures in conjunction with the Executive and Assistant Directors. Travel to synod congregations to promote camp at Sunday schools, worships, etc.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Attend events such as Day Camp Training, the Bible Study Writing Retreat, offsite retreats & workdays, the Rocky Mountain Synod Youth Gatherings, Synod Assembly, and other events where RTLC's presence is needed.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Midweek days that are not days off will be spent helping the Executive Director, Assistant Directors, and Director of Development in accomplishing major projects, assisting in program development, or doing research for current or future programs. Clerical and phone work will be involved.
RECRUITING
Help prepare for recruiting at mid-west college fairs. Reproduce applications and reference forms and make pre-visit telephone calls to campus career centers with the possibility to go along to Colorado schools for campus interviews. Send out service agreement packets, file completed agreements, and mail follow-up paperwork. Compile and mail staff training letters.
TRAINING SESSIONS
Attend monthly half-day training sessions lead by the Executive Director, Assistant Directors, and other full-time staff on topics relevant to Rainbow Trail’s ministry and outdoor ministry as a profession.

The position begins in early September and goes through May.

$900/month
