***GUEST PRESENTERS***
Our July family camp
will be June 29-July 5, 2008. Note that the 4th of July falls
during this week. We are happy to announce that Tim Thies will
be joining us in July to lead our adult study.
Tim has been Senior Pastor to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Sioux
Falls, South Dakota since April of 2000 has been privileged to
witness “first hand” how the Holy Spirit continues
to challenge, move, transform and shake the foundation of this
20 year old community of faith. Tim's family have been family
campers at Rainbow Trail for several years. He is excited to
be back in a teaching role at Rainbow Trail. In his spare time,
Tim enjoys running, biking, weight lifting and racquetball. Time
permitting, Tim pursues the endless task of dwindling down the
stack of books and journals related to his professional and personal
endeavors.
Description of the Adult Study "Where In The World
Are You? Connecting Faith and Daily Life" with Tim Thies:
"Where In The World Are You" is an opportunity to
embrace the rich tapestry of ways to connect Sunday to Monday
by weaving your faith into the complexity of your daily life.
Through thought-provoking discussion and reflection questions
that touch at the heart of everyday life we will traverse topics
such as "Vocation According to the Scriptures;" "Luther’s
Understanding of Vocation;" "Your Calling in Today’s
World" and "Vocation as Ministry." The facilitating
process will invite participants to focus upon fundamental elements
such as stress, power, and accountability that, in a refreshing
way, encourage and enable spiritual growth when Sunday greets
Monday.

Our August family camp, "SHAPED to Serve," will be
August 3-9, 2008. We are excited to introduce Linda Staats,
Director of HomeGrown Faith Ministries for The Youth and Family
Institute. Staats will be leading our August family camp.
Linda’s deep roots in the Lutheran church and her broad
experience with families through all of life’s ages and
stages fuels her passion for passing on faith from generation
to generation through a vital partnership between church and
home.
With a Masters degree in Human Development and the Family from
the University of Nebraska, Linda brings a life span approach
to ministry. She is known for her knowledge of resources and
for her ability to combine research, theology and people’s
own holy stories to engage and empower all generations for serving
at home and in the world.
Linda’s career reflects her ability to listen, equip,
link, support, and teach: Assistant to the Bishop, Minister for
Faith Formation in the ELCA Grand Canyon Synod; Adjunct Faculty,
Center for Youth Ministry, Wartburg Seminary; Minister for Faith
in Daily Life in an 1800 member congregation; Statewide Director
for Building Developmental Assets in Youth for the Arizona Ecumenical
Council; college faculty; parent group facilitator for a university
research program; certified trainer for Prepare/Enrich, a national
resource for couples; therapist, Building Family Strengths instructor;
retreat facilitator, and creator of new ministries based on successful
grant writing.
Description of the Adult Study "SHAPED to Serve" with
Linda Staats:
How has God "SHAPED" you for ministry at home and away from home?
How are you called to use your unique combination of gifts to
SHAPE the world in which you live? Through Bible study, inventories,
and small group interaction we will discover our calling as baptized
individuals and as the Body of Christ. The theme for the week
is based upon Ephesians 4:14: "We must no longer be children,
tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine,
by people's trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming." _____________________
James
Hersch, our resident family camp musician, will be joining
us again for both camps. For over twenty three years, acclaimed
writer, singer and guitarist James Hersch has been quietly
building a repertoire of work that puts him squarely on the
edge of acoustic music's importance in North American culture.
You will love his music, and the stories that he tells will
touch your soul. To learn more about James, click here.
