***FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS***
Neither myself or my group know anything about backpacking/white-water
rafting/high ropes challenge course, can we still go?
YES! Rainbow Trail does the work for you! We believe that it
is our job to help you make the trip the best that it can be.
This includes helping you to understand the requirements of
the trip including clothing, physical conditioning and spiritual
preparation.
Do we bring our own equipment?
No, Rainbow Trail will supply: Tents,
Backpacks, Daypacks, Water Bottles, Stoves, Food, Trained Guides,
Permits and the Bible Study.
You only need to bring a sleeping bag and personal items. CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT WHAT TO BRING
What age groups can go?
The youngest age that we will start working with is youth entering
7th grade. The oldest most commonly is that of graduated high
school seniors. On each Compass Point trip, at least one adult
is required to take part. Our reasoning behind this is that
we don't want the ministry to end once the week ends. We want
to help in building your community, and the opportunity an
adult has to grow in their relationships with the youth is
excellent!
If we go backpacking, where will we be hiking at?
Our trail permits allow us to hike on over a dozen different
trails in the Sangre de Cristo mountain range.
How long does a Compass Points trip last?
Groups typically arrive on Sunday around three o'clock. The
group will stay in Eagle Peak Lodge for the night and
depart for their adventure on Monday morning. The group is
then away from Rainbow Trail's main site except for transition
times between events or during the High Ropes Challenge Course
day. The week ends with a Celebration Dinner on Friday night
in Eagle Peak Lodge. Groups typically leave early Saturday
morning.
Do the Compass Points Guides have any safety training?
Compass Points Guides hold at least a W.F.A. (Wilderness
First Aid) Certification. Guides receive a week of "on-trail"
training in addition to the standard two weeks that all other
RTLC Summer Staff receive.
What happens in case of an accident?
Each Compass Points group carries with them a business band
radio and GPS (Global Positioning System) to allow contact
with the RTLC basecamp and precise location of the backpacking
group. Rainbow Trail has relationships with both Search
+ Rescue and Flight for Life to allow quick response to any emergency
that shoud occur.
