More then just entertainment, our films dive into the soul of the subject and help inspire action.

"I truly believe that knowledge breeds understanding and appreciation. My goal for making this film is to start a dialogue about the impact Rainbow Trail has had on our lives. My hope is that this film will build a greater and deeper appreciation for the opportunity we have been afforded by being a part of this wonderful experience, that being Rainbow Trail Ministries."

The Composer
James Hersch

For almost a decade, James Hersch has blessed Rainbow Trail with his musical talent and grace during the Family Camp weeks of summer programming.

For over twenty five years acclaimed writer, singer and guitarist James Hersch has been quietly building a repertoire of work that puts him squarely on the edge of acoustic music's importance in North American culture.

James has a rare mixture of straight forward musical talent, humor and sensitivity that allows him to create songs that speak to what is common in all of us. James is one of those few performers who allow his listener to experience his music through intimate images which confront and celebrate today's human condition.

James, a native Minnesotan, has eleven album credits to his name and has become known for his guitar/voice only releases "BackTracks" and "Innerweather" (strictly acoustic, just James, his voice and his guitar). Hersch has been nominated National NACA Coffeehouse Entertainer of the Year several times and has been a finalist at the international Kerrville Folk Festival.

Although James has a Bachelor of Arts degree in classical guitar, his songwriting and performing styles are eclectic and broadly appealing. While Hersch performs as a solo acoustic artist, his music has taken on a life of it's own, deeply planted in the minds of the thousands who hear him each year.

James' outreach residencies have become a favorite program among colleges and communities. From elementary school assemblies to elderly care facility concerts, the special challenge of touching inter-generational audiences suits Hersch well. James and his 'REACH program received the Harry Chapin Award for Contributions to Humanity from the National Association for Campus Activities. His keynote/concerts have been a highlight at many professional and academic gatherings.

Associate Producer
Sara Witte

Sara Witte has been on staff at Rainbow Trail during the summers of 2002, 03, 04, and 06 serving in many different roles. She has always loved the impact Rainbow Trail has on campers and staff alike, so she jumped at the opportunity to help with this project, LET IT SHINE.

Sara currently attends the University of Colorado at Boulder and is graduating in May with a dual degree in Architectural Engineering and Music.

During the last few months, Sara has moved through many positions while working on this film. She started as interview Transcriber, then moved to Production Office Coordinator, and now is happily contributing to the film as an Associate Producer.

Working on this project has taught me more about the depth of Rainbow Trail's ministry, and I am blessed to have been a part of this visionary project."

Co-Executive Producer
Rev. Dave "Cruzer" Cruson

Pastor Dave Cruson, affectionately known as “Cruzer”, was a camper beginning in 1982 through 1988. He then served on staff from 1989 to 1994. He’s been able to serve as camp pastor since 1999.

Dave serves as pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, is married to Carissa, and they have a dog named Baylor and a cat named Tanner.

Not the most technically adept person, Cruzer wonders why he’s even included in the esteemed people above him on this list. Cruzer’s job has been to make Brandon laugh and relax (there is a reason- Assistant to Mr. Wade). He is the co-executive writer, unit production manager, key grip, gaffer, best boy, 2nd 2nd camera operator, and costume designer (only kidding on the last one). Lastly, Dave and Carissa are executive producers of “Let It Shine.”

“Through the love of Christ, I found my passion (Thanks B-dub!) for this project to tell the amazing and blessed story of Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp. I feel honored to be a part of something that captures and shares a part of God’s kingdom on earth. If you are reading this, you, as well, have come to know how special the ministry of Rainbow Trail has been over the years and will be for years to come.” “It is what it is!”
Associate Producer
Erik Palmquist
